In Flight Internet on Delta

GD Star Rating

I am sitting here on a flight from JFK airport over to Las Vegas, getting work done, because I have in-flight Internet access. Wow.

My plan was to check in to the Venetian, work for a few hours and try to meet up with my cousin Billy who happens to be there for work, but now, I don’t have to do any work when I get there! I have killed 3 hours of this flight being productive. That is good fun.

Now, I am going to have a beverage.

Bio Fuel Driven Air New Zealand Flights

GD Star Rating

Alternative fuels seem so logical, why haven’t we spent more money pushing this on people? With our oil reserves coming up short and the high oil producing countries treating the united states like their little strawberry, why hasn’t anyone with influence started pushing Bio Fuel yet?

Normal diesel vehicles can run off of hand filtered used fryer oil. Take out the ‘do it your-selfer’ and focus on the fact that these oils are absolutely renewable. Anyway, I am not going to write a term paper on this, do some google searches. I just saw this on cnn: Air New Zealand is starting to power some of their jets with Bio Fuel.

Avoiding Baja Surf Trips

GD Star Rating

I am San Diego for a couple of weeks hanging with Summer while she helps the crew at her warehouse bust out all of the halloween costume orders she gets hit with starting every September.

When we lived here, the Donkey Patrol Crew would head down to Mexico regularly to avoid the crowded San Diego line ups. It was always a little sketchy, but never worth avoiding the fun weekend trips. Maybe, we would have to pay a cop off $80-$100 to let us out of a bogus speeding ticket or have to deal with some super drunk local guys scoping out your stuff to steal once you left for dinner or fell fast asleep.

These days, things are different. Surfers are being held up at gun point by bandits, robbed by police and the drug cartel killings are getting out of control.

Nowhere is the trauma greater than along the border with the United States, where drug cartels are battling one another for a growing domestic market and the lucrative transit routes north. In Tijuana alone, a wave of gangland killings has left at least 99 people dead since Sept. 26, a death toll that rivals, if not exceeds, that in Baghdad, a war-torn city that is four times as large, over the same period.

Across Mexico, the carnage is impossible to hide, with severed heads and decapitated bodies turning up, sometimes nearly a dozen at a time. There have been more than 3,700 killings related to drugs and organized crime this year, up from about 2,700 last year, the Mexican attorney general’s office said early last week, with Chihuahua the most violent state and the killings continuing in the days since.

I am going to avoid Mexico on this trip. I am sure that it isn’t nearly as bad further south in baja or even on the mainland, but avoiding Mexico’s border towns is probably a wise move for a traveler.

Tickets Booked – Florida – California

GD Star Rating

After a full day of checking fare and going back and forth with Spirit Airlines customer service I finally booked my flight back to California to be with Summer.

My itinerary takes me through Tampa Bay Florida out of Aguadilla Puerto Rico on Spirit Airlines. I fly into Tampa on Saturday morning at 8:00am (I leave PR at 2:30am) and Conner is going to pick me up at the airport. The one way flight was $85 plus tax. Each checked bag costs $15 and if you want to choose a seat online that will cost you another $5-$15 or you can let them auto-assign you a seat at the gate. I am then going to help he and Dianne move to their new house. I am really stoked to go hang out with those guys, I haven’t seen Van (aside from pictures on their blog) in almost a year. After we move on Saturday, we are either going to go golfing on Sunday or go hang out with Dianne’s dad and go spear fishing or hang on his boat.

I fly to California on Monday and arrive in San Diego at 9:30pm via US Air. The flight cost me $115 after taxes and I could choose my seats for free. I’m not sure what the baggage allowance is on US Air, but I should only be traveling with one bag. I arrive in San Diego well after Summers multiple visits the post office shipping Halloween Costumes are over with and hopefully she won’t be too slammed with next day orders so we can hang out and have some proper together time. September 12 was the last day I saw her (over 2 weeks ago and not for another two weeks).
